Cell Salvage Training Course​

Day 1:​

  • Theory and discussion
  • Dry and wet set up including ending and disposal discussion
  • Sensors
  • Incident and fault reporting
  • Traceability and auditing
  • Quality control

Day 2:​

  • Special Cases: : Jehovah’s Witnesses , Obstetrics, Malignancy, Urology
  • Filters, Manual mode/emergency mode
  • Swab washing practical
  • Machine Demonstration from Manufacturers
  • EBL
  • Troubleshooting and scenarios
  • Viva and final practical assessment

Successful completion of Day 1 and Day 2 will be awarded 4 CPE points.

Day 3: Optional

This is an optional practical day of training at the Manchester Royal Infirmary and can be arranged at your convenience. It is included within the course fee and carries a further 2 CPD points, we strongly recommend you take up this opportunity.

Finally there are three assignments to complete.

Clinical Activity

Upon completion of the course, you will be certified as a fully competent cell saver operator. In order to maintain this professional competency you will be asked to complete a Clinical Activity Report form detailing 10 cases which you have completed over the subsequent 12 months. On submission of this form to Haemoclaim, your competency will be confirmed for a further 12 months

The cost of the course is currently £1000, if you are self-funding a payment plan can be arranged.

The cost covers all expenses for tutors, equipment, consumables, lunch and refreshments on the two days, online access to a course training manual and certification.
