Intraoperative Cell Salvage (ICS) was introduced during the 1980’s at the Central Manchester Foundation Trust (CMFT) and used during ever cardiac procedure, a practice which continues to this day.

However, over the last ten years the demand for ICS within other specialities has hugely increased and this has led to the formation of Haemoclaim Blood Management Service.

We have developed a comprehensive, bespoke Cell Salvage Training Course, which is the only recognised course in the UK and is accredited by The College of Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain and Ireland. This provides candidates with the necessary tools to deliver the highest standards of ICS practice.

Candidates are given the opportunity to practice and familiarize themselves with a wide range of current equipment.

In addition to our training course we also provide ICS services, including on call and standby operators for many other Trusts and private hospitals within the Northwest.  Our service has now grown to incorporate all specialities which require ICS.
